Special note: Mr. Jerry Weintraub, a legendary producer and a longtime UCLA Dentistry supporter whose name graces the UCLA Jerry & Jane Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology passed away on Monday, July 6th. He was 77.
Touching nearly every corner of the entertainment world, Mr. Weintraub prided himself on his ability to mount ambitious efforts, whether that meant producing a blockbuster movie or overseeing a national concert tour. Mr. Weintraub has forever enriched not only the entertainment industry, but also the lives of countless members of the Los Angeles community through his family's generous support of UCLA School of Dentistry. His visionary philanthropy will continue to help develop methods to improve the quality of life for people who have experienced loss of oral or facial structures secondary to cancer, trauma or birth defects.
A visionary $5 million fundraising effort led by the Weintraub Family Foundation has launched to position the UCLA Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology as the leader in cutting-edge advances in regenerative medicine, cancer therapeutics, immune modulation, drug delivery, implants, sensing, and imaging. Priorities are giving to projects that are most likely to accelerate the clinical deployment of advanced technologies that can vastly improve the quality of life for people who have experienced loss of oral or facial structures secondary to cancer, trauma or birth defects. This generous commitment will solidify and elevate the UCLA Jane & Jerry Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology’s impact in changing the direction of discoveries and treatments at the UCLA School of Dentistry.
